Sockeye salmon are actively spawning in the shallows and gravel around parts of the shoreline and dock at Cozihaus on Blodgett Lake right now. This is a real-time wildlife window, not a fixed date on a calendar — it will taper off as the run finishes, typically by mid-to-late September in Southcentral Alaska lake systems, but we're not tracking it day by day. A quiet lakefront place to settle in
Cozihaus on Blodgett Lake is the private upper level of a lakefront home outside Wasilla — a quiet residential lake, not a resort. It sleeps four across two queen bedrooms, with a full kitchen, a dining table, and a deck looking out over the water.
A wood stove with a locally sourced rock surround anchors the living room and does real work in the cold months. Step off the deck to your own dock, where a canoe, two pedal boats, two kayaks, and a rowboat are ready at the water, along with fishing gear for the lake.
Access is by a short flight of exterior stairs from the driveway, so the home is not step-free — tell us in advance if that matters for your group.

You're on a quiet residential lake outside Wasilla, in the Mat-Su Valley — close enough to town for supplies, and a straightforward drive to Hatcher Pass or back into Anchorage.

Anchorage
About an hour to Anchorage.
Talkeetna & Denali State Park
Talkeetna works well as a half-day or longer trip north. Denali State Park is farther and is better treated as a full-day outing.
Knik & Matanuska glaciers
Knik and Matanuska are separate glacier trips from the Valley. Either can work as a half-day or longer outing depending on route and activity.
South from here
Turnagain Arm, Girdwood, and Whittier are reachable, but they are a longer day than from Anchorage.

What is the cancellation policy?
For direct reservations, accommodation charges are fully refundable when cancelled at least 30 days before check-in, 50% refundable when cancelled 14–29 days before check-in, and nonrefundable fewer than 14 days before check-in. Reservations made through Airbnb, Vrbo, or another platform follow the terms accepted on that platform. See our Cancellation Policy at /cancellation for details.

Self check-in from 4:00 p.m. with a keypad code sent the morning of arrival. Checkout is 11:00 a.m.
Property access & stairs
This is the upper level of the home, reached by a short flight of exterior stairs from the driveway — it isn't step-free. Let us know in advance if stairs are a concern.
Parking
Free driveway parking for up to two vehicles. The driveway is plowed in winter, though conditions can vary with heavy snow.
Lake and seasonal conditions
Lake & water safety
The lake is unsupervised and conditions vary by season. Children should be supervised near the water and dock at all times.
Winter conditions
Road and driveway conditions can change quickly in winter. Snow tires or AWD are recommended for the drive in from November through March. Ice conditions on the lake are never guaranteed — we don't maintain or clear ice, and we can't advise that it is safe to walk on.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes — anyone 16 or older fishing Alaska waters needs a state licence, sold online through Alaska Fish & Game or at sporting goods stores in Wasilla. Guided trips typically handle this for you; fishing on your own does not. Regulations change, so check current rules before you fish.
