Guest-only access for guests staying at Cozihaus on Blodgett Lake
Fishing at Blodgett Lake
Fishing at Blodgett Lake is a private, guest-only amenity for anyone staying at Cozihaus on Blodgett Lake — the dock, a rowboat, and fishing gear are all part of the property, available to use, not something you need to bring or arrange. It's a good place to fish without it being the reason for your trip. Anything beyond the property itself starts with current public-water regulations.

Who this suits
Guests staying at Cozihaus on Blodgett Lake who want to fish casually without organizing a whole trip around it — gear is provided, so this works whether or not you brought your own rod.
A plan that works
- This is a guest-only property amenity — the dock, rowboat, and fishing gear are all part of your stay at Cozihaus on Blodgett Lake, ready to use.
- Rods and basic gear are provided at the house — bring your own only if you have a specific rod or setup you prefer.
- Use the lake as the relaxed base it is — the dock, the rowboat, and quiet water time.
- If you want to go further than the property itself, check current Alaska Department of Fish and Game regulations and emergency orders first — that's the first step for any public Mat-Su water, not the last.
- Get your Alaska fishing license before you fish anywhere beyond the property, per state law.
- If you want to go further, the Little Susitna is a real regional river system — see that guide for bank and boat access — or look at other nearby Mat-Su lakes and streams based on season, access, and regulations for your dates.
- Stop at a local supply store for current conditions, flies, and licence questions. Local staff know more than any page can.
- If fishing is the main point of the trip, a guided Mat-Su trip is a better use of a day than driving to the Kenai.
Drive and timing, honestly
- Fishing from the dock takes no drive at all — it's part of the property.
- Mat-Su options beyond the property vary widely by season, regulations, water level, stocking, salmon movement, and public access. Water that looks close on a map may not be the right fit for your dates or gear.
- We would keep you local rather than sending you to the Kenai or Russian River unless a major fishing day is the specific goal.
What we won’t promise
- We cannot promise fish. Not on the lake, not anywhere nearby.
- We cannot promise salmon runs, trout success, or timing — runs move year to year.
- We cannot promise that a particular stream or lake beyond the property is currently open, legal to fish, or publicly accessible.
- Blodgett Lake is a peaceful lake with casual fishing potential. It is not a guaranteed fly-fishing destination, and we will not describe it as one.
- Always verify current ADF&G regulations, emergency orders, licences, and access before fishing anywhere beyond the property.
Practical notes
- The property has a private dock, 2 kayaks, 1 rowboat, 2 pedal boats, and 1 canoe — all available to guests staying at Cozihaus on Blodgett Lake.
- Fishing rods and basic gear are provided at the house — bring your own only if you prefer a specific setup, not because gear isn't otherwise available.
- This is a guest-only amenity of the stay, not a public-access fishery — the dock and boats belong to the property.
- Regulations differ by water and can change mid-season through emergency orders. A rule you read last year may not apply beyond the property.

Coho salmon retention — Susitna & Little Susitna River drainages
ADF&G has prohibited retaining coho salmon 16 inches or larger in the Susitna and Little Susitna River drainages, effective August 19 through December 31, 2026 — the Little Susitna coho count is running well below the escapement goal. Bait remains prohibited in these waters; artificial lures only. If a Mat-Su coho day on these specific rivers is the plan, it's catch-and-release only right now — check the current order before you go, since ADF&G can adjust it again mid-season.
Always confirm current regulations directly with ADF&G before you fish — emergency orders can change on short notice.
