Arrival days, late flights, and anyone who would rather ease in than drive somewhere the moment they land.

A plan that works

  1. Land, collect the car, and come straight to the house — Spenard is close to the airport and downtown, so the first drive is short.
  2. Unpack properly. It costs half an hour and makes the rest of the stay easier.
  3. Walk or drive somewhere nearby for an unhurried early dinner rather than planning around a reservation.
  4. Pick up groceries and coffee for the morning so day two starts on your own schedule.
  5. Save the long drives — Hatcher Pass, Whittier, Talkeetna — for a day when you have slept.

Drive and timing, honestly

  • The drive from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport to Cozihaus in Spenard is short. It is the main reason to use Spenard as a first or last night.
  • Alaska summer daylight runs very late, which makes a 9 p.m. arrival feel earlier than the clock suggests — and can make it tempting to overcommit on day one.
  • Self check-in is by keypad, so a delayed flight does not mean a missed arrival window.

What we won’t promise

  • We cannot promise which restaurants are open, or their current hours — Anchorage hours shift with the season.
  • We cannot promise weather on your arrival day.
  • We cannot promise you will see a moose. They do wander through Anchorage neighbourhoods, including ours, but that is luck rather than an amenity — and they are wild animals worth giving a wide berth.
  • Flight delays are common. Build the first evening so a late arrival does not break it.

Practical notes

  • Cozihaus in Spenard sleeps 3 — one queen bedroom, plus a sleeper ottoman that converts to a twin.
  • There is driveway parking, and check-in is by keypad.
  • There is no guest washer or dryer at Spenard. If you need laundry mid-trip, plan for a laundromat.
  • Check-in is 4:00 p.m. and check-out is 11:00 a.m.
