Easiest from Cozihaus in Spenard
Tony Knowles Coastal Trail
The Coastal Trail runs for miles along Anchorage's Cook Inlet shoreline. You don't need to ride or walk the whole thing — a single segment is a complete outing on its own.

Who this suits
Guests who want an easy, flexible Anchorage outing — walking, running, or cycling, with coastal and Cook Inlet views along the way. Works for anywhere from an hour to most of a day.
A plan that works
- Choose a segment near where you already are rather than trying to do the whole trail — the full route is a long-day commitment, not a casual outing.
- Westchester Lagoon and the area near downtown are common, easy starting points.
- Rent a bike if you want to cover more distance than a walk allows.
- The trail connects into Kincaid Park at its western end, so it pairs naturally with a Kincaid visit if you want a longer day.
Drive and timing, honestly
- No drive time is stated from either property — none has been measured. The trail runs along the Anchorage coastline, close to Cozihaus in Spenard.
- From Cozihaus on Blodgett Lake, treat this as part of an Anchorage day.
What we won’t promise
- We cannot promise uninterrupted ocean scenery the whole way — the trail's character and views change along its length, and tide, weather, and season all affect what you'll see.
- We cannot promise wildlife sightings.
- We cannot promise current trail conditions, closures, or construction.
Practical notes
- The trail is paved and suitable for a wide range of ability levels for the segment you choose.
- Related to, but distinct from, Kincaid Park, which the trail borders at its western end — the park is a forest trail system, this is the paved coastal route.
