A plan that works

Choose a segment near where you already are rather than trying to do the whole trail — the full route is a long-day commitment, not a casual outing.
Westchester Lagoon and the area near downtown are common, easy starting points.
Rent a bike if you want to cover more distance than a walk allows.
The trail connects into Kincaid Park at its western end, so it pairs naturally with a Kincaid visit if you want a longer day.

Drive and timing, honestly

No drive time is stated from either property — none has been measured. The trail runs along the Anchorage coastline, close to Cozihaus in Spenard.
From Cozihaus on Blodgett Lake, treat this as part of an Anchorage day.
