Kincaid Park is a genuinely large trail network on the western edge of Anchorage, above the Cook Inlet bluffs — the kind of forest recreation guests don't expect to find inside city limits.

A plan that works

  1. Pick a trailhead and go — the park's interconnected trail system supports an easy stroll or a much longer outing depending on how much time you have.
  2. In summer, it's one of the better spots in Anchorage for a run or a mountain bike ride on real singletrack rather than pavement.
  3. In winter, when conditions support it, this is also one of Anchorage's main cross-country ski areas — check current grooming and conditions before you go.
  4. The park borders the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, so a Kincaid visit can extend into a longer coastal walk or ride if you want more.
