Lazy Mountain / Lazy Moose

Lazy Mountain, near Palmer, has two real approaches: the Lazy Mountain Trail itself, short but very steep at roughly 3,000 feet of gain in under 2 miles, or Lazy Moose, a gentler roughly 3-mile zig-zag route. The two can be combined as a loop for guests who want a bigger day — neither approach is presented as the "right" one over the other.

Who this suits

Guests who want a real Palmer-area summit and can choose their own steepness/distance tradeoff — steep and short via Lazy Mountain, or longer and gentler via Lazy Moose.

A plan that works

  1. Ask which tradeoff the guest wants — Lazy Mountain (steep, short) or Lazy Moose (gentler, longer) — before recommending one over the other.
  2. Mention the loop option for guests who want a bigger day combining both.

Drive and timing, honestly

  • Near Palmer. No drive time is stated — none has been measured from either property.
  • Half day to full day, depending on route choice.

What we won’t promise

  • We cannot promise current mud, ice, or winter footing conditions on either trail, or current trailhead parking status.

Practical notes

  • Two genuinely different approaches to the same summit — no single "right" way up.
