Anchorage is the hub — the airport, the city, and where the two highways out of town split. North and east, the Mat-Su Valley opens up: Wasilla, Palmer, Hatcher Pass’s alpine backcountry, and the river town of Talkeetna toward Denali. South, the Seward Highway runs the length of Turnagain Arm past Girdwood and Portage to the tunnel into Whittier and Prince William Sound. Further south again, the Kenai Peninsula holds Cooper Landing, Soldotna, Seward, and Homer.

That is real variety in a compact area — glaciers, fishing rivers, coastal fjords, alpine trails, and small towns each with their own character — all reachable as day trips from either Cozihaus stay.
