Southcentral Alaska

Mountains, glaciers, coast, and a handful of real communities — everywhere Cozihaus's two bases actually reach.

Southcentral runs from Anchorage’s mountains and inlet through the Mat-Su Valley’s farmland and alpine passes, along Turnagain Arm toward Prince William Sound, and south to the glaciers, rivers, and coast of the Kenai Peninsula. Real communities sit throughout it — Palmer, Girdwood, Seward, Homer — not just wilderness. The scale of a day varies as much as the geography: an overlook a few minutes off the road, a half-day trail, or a full day out. Wildlife moves with season and terrain, never on a schedule. An interest is one way in; area or kind of day works just as well.

See how Southcentral fits together

Anchorage is the hub — the airport, the city, and where the two highways out of town split. North and east, the Mat-Su Valley opens up: Wasilla, Palmer, Hatcher Pass’s alpine backcountry, and the river town of Talkeetna toward Denali. South, the Seward Highway runs the length of Turnagain Arm past Girdwood and Portage to the tunnel into Whittier and Prince William Sound. Further south again, the Kenai Peninsula holds Cooper Landing, Soldotna, Seward, and Homer.

That is real variety in a compact area — glaciers, fishing rivers, coastal fjords, alpine trails, and small towns each with their own character — all reachable as day trips from either Cozihaus stay.
